After celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, we start to feel the air around us cool down and the season is slowly shifting. Our summer is departing and fall has arrived! Wingtat Members’ Shopping Party Lucky Draw Event has successfully come to an end on September 28th, thank you for everyone’s participation; congratulations to the winners listed below. To welcome autumn, Mrs. Chiu will be introducing a nourishing soup recipe this month. The annual “Walk the Wall”, organized by International China Concern and sponsored by Wingtat, took place on September 27th. The event highlights and photos are shared in this issue of our newsletter.

Wingtat Sponsers ICC’S WALK THE WALL 2014

The sun was shining as over 600 joined together to change lives

On Saturday, September 27th, more than 600 supporters of International China Concern (ICC) came together in Vancouver’s Stanley Park to take part in Walk the Wall 2014. Walk the Wall is ICC’s annual walkathon, raising funds for its work in China for hundreds of abandoned and disabled children.

The weather was beautiful as the sun shone and the temperature was just perfect for a walk around the Sea Wall. After an energetic warm-up, everyone began the 10km journey by the water. Upon return to the starting point, there were prizes for the top fundraisers, both individuals and teams, as well as draw prizes for everyone. Prizes included gift certificates from Claypot Hotpot BBQ, as well as Specialty Chicken and Wonton House.

The event in Vancouver was one of 37 events taking place all around world, with thousands of participants helping to raise funds for ICC. Founder and CEO of ICC, David Gotts, helped to inspire all the participants with his opening address, even speaking part of it in Mandarin!
